Meihaar Josiano Marsaoly, a national private sector engagement specialist and international micro-enterprise development specialist, has 18 years of experience in project and financial management. He has worked with agricultural/agroforestry communities, natural resource management, microenterprises, agribusiness, sustainable livelihoods, supply chains, local value chain development (with M4P approach), Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) with timber - palm oil - mining concessions and associations (GAPKI/APHI/GAPKINDO-APKARINDO), chambers of commerce (KADINDA), University(s) and Kementerian Pertanian (Dirjenbun PPHP/PHP), Kementerian Perdagangan, Kementerian LHK in Indonesiafor poverty reduction and food security, livelihood and economic development tasks such as infrastructure and capacity improvement. He also has experience in climate chain programmes (forest degradation and deforestation for low emission development), monitoring and results measurement, analysis in competition, economics and the drivers of change, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigations (CCAM),microfinance and financial development, business development services and working with communities in South-East and South Asia such as Indonesia and Bangladesh, and other countries experiences for poverty reduction and some economic development tasks. He has held progressively more senior management roles from 2008 until now, and has spent the last 14 years in the field in Sumatera, Sulawesi, Java, Maluku, NTT and Central-South Kalimantan regions. He has worked with a wide variety of donors, such as; USAID –OFDA, OTI/OCPR, USDA, UNDP, European Commission, NZAid, World Bank, Chevron Global Fund, International Rescue Committee (IRC), CIDA, SDC, SECO, Cordaid Netherlands, and the Ford Foundation. He has spent the last five years working in two NRM programmes (IFACS and LESTARI), implemented by Tetra Tech ARD and funded by USAID.

Meihaar is originally from Ambon and after 13 years out of Maluku and he has made his way back with renewed energy and much skill and experience to support the development of renewable energy with the NZMATES Team. Meihaar holds a bachelor degree in Economics (financial management and accounting) from Pattimura University and a post-graduate qualification from the Microenterprise Development Institute (MDI) of Southern New Hampshire University, USA. He is fluent in English, Bahasa Indonesia, and local language.

As NZMATES’ DPM Meihaar is responsible for supporting the Programme Manager with overall management and supervision. As such, he is playing a leadership role in: strategic planning, guiding implementation, budget management, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL), reporting, staff supervision, stakeholder engagement and coordination, and external communications. He is supporting the NZMATES team to ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance with donor regulations and reporting requirements.
