Marie Irene de Fretes has 11 years of experience working in non-government organizations, including community development, capacity building, project management, programme development, formal & non formal education particularly in early childhood care and development (ECCD) and Basic Education (BE) and child rights. She has spent 10 years working with Save the Children in the Education Sector through programnes funded by Ausaid, NZAid, Hempel-Denmark, the European Union, Bvlgari and Thomson IFR in Maluku, NTT, NTB and Jakarta. She has significant experience in building relationships with government, capacity building of teachers and children, and working with parents and communities in awareness-raising on child protection, community participation in school development and good parenting. Her previous experience working with Mercy Corps in Ambon had also brought her to have extensive work both with government and communities.
Marie lives in Ambon, but she is from Liang Village, Central Maluku District. She graduated from the Faculty of Psychology, Atma Jaya University, in 2004, and continued her Psychological Professional Program at the same University. She usually spends her leisure time reading books or watching movies with her family.
Marie is a Monitoring Evaluation Learning and Reporting Specialist. Before that, she leads community engagement activities, including identifying key stakeholders and groups within communities, communicating programme activities and objectives, and encouraging involvement in programme activities.
